Curriculum

At Atonement Christian Day School:
  • Children master valuable self-help skills and independence.
  • Children learn to respect themselves, each other and the environment.
  • Play sets the stage for learning in which children may imitate, explore, test ideas, acquire information, and draw conclusions.
  • Children enjoy a multi-sensory way of learning.
  • Emphasis is placed on creating lifelong learners by encouraging exploration, curiosity and discovery.
  • Children experience hands on science and math.
  • The Preschool Curriculum is designed and implemented to meet and exceed the Illinois Early Childhood Education Standards set by the Illinois Department of Education and supported by the CDC Developmental Milestone Recommendations.​
  • The ACDS curriculum is proprietary and pulls from several modalities and incorporates a variety of resources. Some of the resources come from:​
    • Handwriting Without Tears
    • Jolly Phonics and Letter People
    • Creative Curriculum
    • High Scope
    • Religious Ed: Frolic and Spark by Spark House, Godly Play
    • Social Emotional Curriculum: Second Step​

A year-round Full-Day preschool and Kindergarten with extended hours, from age 7 weeks to 7 years. 

A traditional Part-Day preschool for your child, from age 2 to 5.

ACDS partners with the Early Learning Center in Barrington. The ELC serves at-risk preschool students in the Barrington 220 School District.
